Remember this?

Well, after nine months, we have identified the villain. Turns out it was the mean old man that lives right there, to the right of our tree!!! Yesterday, our neighbor who lives across the street from us watched this old man walk over to our yard early in the morning, look around for anyone watching and then snipped about six of my beautiful roses off of the bush in our front yard. I worked yesterday and Ryan called me and told me that our neighbor told him what he saw. I was FURIOUS! First of all, we only have one rosebush, and it is beautiful when it blooms. The spring roses came and most of them have died off and now there is another phase blooming and I had been waiting all week for these roses to open up. They finally did, but I had to work all weekend so I didn't get to enjoy them. Now they are all gone and there are no roses on the bush now. I was angry for the rest of the day and something in the back of my mind kept telling me this is the person that stole our peaches! Really, if you have the nerve to snip ALL of someones blooming roses off of their babied rose bush, you would definitely have the nerve to steal ALL of their peaches too. I think the reason why I was so angry about him stealing my roses is that Ryan and I put so much effort into our yard. I prune and weed and plant and we hand water it every day. We have been trying really hard to make it look nice. This mean old man sees us out there all the time working our butts off to make it look that way it does.
So after stewing over it all day I was so ready to come home and confront him. Ryan and I went over to his house and I asked him why he stole our roses. He admitted to it and believe me I gave him an earful. Then I said, "You took our peaches too, didn't you!" and he admitted to it! I was in disbelief. He is an old Hispanic man and doesn't speak much English, but he definitely got the point that if he ever comes into our yard again for any other reason then to bring me roses or peaches, he will be in trouble.
To be honest, I kind of felt bad afterword because I have never yelled at an old man before. I am still baffled as to why a person would do such a thing, especially to the neighbors that you have lived next to for three years and who are always friendly to you. He tried to give me the roses back that he took and I told him to keep them. Now he can look at them every day and think about how rude he is.
